Preventive maintenance forecast deletion rules

You can delete a PM forecast that is erroneous or no longer needed.

When you generate a forecast for a PM or PM hierarchy for the first time, all forecast dates are accurate and up-to-date. However, if you change the PM record and then generate the forecast again, new dates are forecasted based on the updated data, but old dates also remain in the forecast The only way to remove all erroneous dates from the forecast is to delete the forecast, and then regenerate it. For example, if the frequency criteria on a PM has changed, the forecast might be inaccurate. Generating the forecast again adds new forecast dates, but does not delete forecast dates that were based on the original frequency criteria. To create a clean forecast, delete the initial forecast, and then regenerate.

You can delete a forecast directly from the preventive maintenance record, or from the List tab of the PM application.

The logic for deleting a forecast is as follows:

Deleting a single PM from a forecast

When a PM that is not part of a PM hierarchy has a forecast, you can delete the entire forecast, or any instances within the forecast. You can delete all forecasted dates at once, or only the ones that you select.

Deleting a PM hierarchy from a forecast

When a PM hierarchy has a forecast, the entire forecast can be deleted, but only at the parent level. Deleting a parent from the forecast automatically deletes any children of that parent from the forecast as well. The children cannot be deleted from the forecast on their own.

Changing a PM hierarchy that has been forecasted

When a PM hierarchy has a forecast, any changes to the structure of the hierarchy render a forecast inaccurate. When you change the PM hierarchy, the original forecast is automatically deleted. You must regenerate the forecast by selecting theGenerate Forecast action or by using the PM Forecast cron task.

Deleting a forecast date

You can delete a forecast date in the Preventive Maintenance application. In a time-based PM, you can delete dates from the end of the forecast up. In meter-based PM, or in a PM in which the Use Last Work Order's Start Date to Calculate Next Due Date check box is cleared, forecast dates cannot be deleted. In this case, you must delete the entire forecast and regenerate it in the Preventive Maintenance application. You cannot delete a forecast date from a schedule in the Scheduler application.
