Work order generation of forecasted PMs

When a preventive maintenance (PM) record becomes due, a work order is generated. If a forecast exists for the preventive maintenance record, it is affected.

PM records that have a forecast in place use the following business logic when a work order is generated. In all cases, when a work order is generated, the forecasted date for that instance of the PM is deleted.

Time-based PMs

  • When a time-based PM has its Use Last Work Order's Start Date to Calculate Next Due Date check box selected (set to Yes), the generated work order uses the New Date if one is provided. If no New Date exists, the generated work order uses the forecasted date.
  • When a time-based PM has its Use Last Work Order's Start Date to Calculate Next Due Date check box cleared (set to No), the generated work order uses the New Date if one is provided. If no New Date exists, the PM uses standard work order generation business logic.

Meter-based PMs

For meter-based PMs, generated work orders use the New Date if one is provided. If no New Date exists, PMs use standard work order generation business logic.

Combination PMs

Some PMs are both time- and meter-based. When a work order is generated from a PM that is both time-based and meter-based, the rules for time-based PMs apply.
