Accessing BIRT

Create a shortcut to the BIRT report designer to access it for report development.

Procedure

  1. Creating a shortcut in BIRT 4.8.
    1. Create a shortcut to the BIRT report designer from eclipse.exe.
    2. Update the target for the shortcut to include your IBM® Software Development Kit (SDK) or Java™ Development Kit file path, as shown in the following example: C:/birt_<version>/eclipse/eclipse.exe -vm "C:/ibm/Java<version>/jre/bin/javaw.exe" -vmargs -Xmx512m.
    3. Use the shortcut that you created to start the BIRT report designer.
    4. Select an applicable workspace location for your environment. Select the Use this as default check box and click OK to access the BIRT report designer.
  2. Creating a shortcut in BIRT 4.16
    1. Create a shortcut to the report designer from birt.exe.
    2. Start the report designer.
    3. Run C:/birt_<version>/eclipse/birt.exe. Select an applicable workspace location for your environment. Select the Use this as default check box and click OK to access the report designer.
