Creating warranty contracts

You create warranty contracts to define the agreement to maintain one or more assets with an outside service provider for a fee or a scheduled set of payments.

Procedure

  1. In the Warranty Contracts application, click New Warranty Contract.
    The status is set to draft and the start date is set to the current date.
  2. In the Type field, specify whether you are creating a warranty or service contract.
  3. Specify the value for currency.
  4. Optional: Specify additional details and vendor information.
  5. Save the contract.

What to do next

New contracts are assigned a unique contract number. You can append data to this number to differentiate this contract from others. For example, when you have multiple sites and want to track contracts associated with them individually, you can append a site identifier to the contract number.
