Enabling tasks as work orders
For scheduling and tracking purposes, some businesses want to process work tasks as work orders. To view tasks as work orders in Work Supervision and Work Execution Work Centers, administrators must configure the object structure for work orders.
About this task
- In Maximo® Application Suite 9.0 and Maximo Manage 9.0, all work centers are removed. Use Maximo Mobile instead for mobile access to Maximo Manage functionality. For more information, see Maximo Mobile overview.
- In Maximo Application Suite 8.9 and Maximo Manage 8.5, the following work centers are removed: Business Analysis, Design Data Sets, Conduct an Inspection, Work Execution, Work Supervisor, Service Request, Assets, and Administration.
This documentation applies only to Maximo Manage 8.7 and earlier. In those versions, you can set a default Work Center if you have access to multiple Work Centers.
Businesses can choose to process work order tasks as separate work orders. For example, when a work order for an office renovation includes electrical work and painting, you might want to display the electrical task as a work order for the electrician and the painting task as a work order for the painter. If you add a task to an existing task, the existing task will become a child of the parent record.
By default, tasks are not processed as work orders. The following procedures explain how to enable tasks as work orders for your Work Supervision and Work Execution Work Centers.
Enabling tasks as work orders for technicians
To enable tasks as work orders for technicians, an administrator must configure the query clause for technicians.
