Asset import guidelines

The CSV template file that you download from the Manage Assets Work Center includes eight columns. You must provide a value for ASSETNUM. All other columns either contain a default value or are optional.

DESCRIPTION The name or description of the asset. Alphanumeric 100 Add a description to provide a meaningful reference about the asset.
LOCATION The unique identifier of the location of the asset. Uppercase alphanumeric 12 You must specify the unique identifier of a location that already exists in the system.

Import or add all your locations first, then import assets.

PARENT The unique identifier of the parent asset. Uppercase alphanumeric 12 When importing assets, import parent assets first. Then import child assets and specify the unique identifier of a parent asset in this field.
STATUS The status of the asset. Uppercase alphanumeric Values for asset status include OPERATING, NOT READY, and DECOMMISSIONED.

If no status is specified, the default status OPERATING, which is displayed as Active in the Work Center, is applied to the asset.

ASSETTYPE The type of the asset. Uppercase alphanumeric   Values for asset types include PRODUCTION, FACILITIES, FLEET, and IT. You can create synonym values for asset types if needed. If you want to use a custom asset type, add the asset type before you import asset data.
SERIALNUM The serial number of the asset. Uppercase alphanumeric 64  
SITEID The unique identifier of the site for the asset. Uppercase alphanumeric 8 You must create at least one site for an organization.

Sites are facilities or subdivisions in an organization where work and supply chain activities are managed. Each site can track inventory and related data separately from other sites. Sites do not have to be physical locations.

If you want to load assets for a site that is not your default site, you must supply a site ID.
