What's new in IBM Maximo Manage 8.1
Maximo® Manage introduces the following new features as part of the IBM® Maximo Application Suite V8.5 release.
- Maintenance cost rollup in the Assets application
-
A new feature is added to the Assets application to help you calculate maintenance costs for your assets. After you close a work order that is associated with an asset, you can roll up costs that you incur for labor, materials, tools, and services to the top-level asset in the hierarchy that the asset belongs to. You can roll up costs manually or configure a system property to roll up costs automatically when work orders are closed.
In previous releases, the Maintenance Cost Rollup Report was used to calculate maintenance costs for assets. Use the new rollup feature in the Assets application instead of the report. The report is still available to allow existing users to roll up pending maintenance costs. If you upgrade to Maximo Manage 8.1, run the report to roll up pending maintenance costs before the upgrade.
- APIs for administrative utilities
- APIs to run script commands for administrative utilities are now available. The API requests can run the integrity checker utilities, start and stop the Maximo Manage pods, download log files or a list of log files, and upload logs to Simple Storage Service (S3) Cloud Object Storage.
- Adding trusted external certificates
- Administrators can add trusted external certificates for Maximo Manage in the Suite administration panel of Maximo Application Suite.
- Log output to S3 Cloud Object Storage
- You can send server bundle logs for Maximo Manage to your provisioned Simple Storage Service (S3) Cloud Object Storage. You also can redirect logs from the administrative server to S3 Cloud Object Storage.
- External registry for build images
- You can now configure Maximo Manage to send the images that are created when you deploy or update the application to an external repository. The external build images are useful if you want to test or review the application before you deploy it in the Maximo Application Suite.
- Deploying Maximo Manage on a local computer
- After you configure Maximo Manage to send build images to an external registry, you can deploy the images to a Docker container on a local computer. You can use these images to review content or to customize the application.
- Configuring JVM options
- You can now configure JVM configuration options for the WebSphere® Application Server Liberty server on which a server bundle runs. For example, you can specify memory options to improve performance or specify logging options for the server bundle. You configure JVM options by adding them to the custom resource definition in the OpenShift® console.
- Parts Identifier add-on for Maximo Mobile
- Parts Identifier is an IBM Cloud® service add-on for Maximo Mobile that enables technicians to
search for and identify industrial parts from their mobile device by using a combination of visual
and text-based search approaches. You add the Parts Identifier add-on in IBM
Maximo Application Suite. After you add Parts Identifier in
Maximo Application Suite, you must integrate it
with Maximo Manage.
