Location integration

The External Systems application provides an enterprise service for integrating location system, operating location, and location hierarchy data from Maximo® Monitor to Maximo Manage.

Location systems integration

The following artifacts are used to integrate location systems:
  • Enterprise Service: MASDDLOCSYS
  • Object Structure: MXAPILOCSYSTEM
You can integrate all location systems.

Mismatches in field lengths between Maximo Monitor and Maximo Manage can prevent accurate integration. Integration fails when a field length in Maximo Monitor is greater than the maximum field length in Maximo Manage.

When integrating from Maximo Monitor to Maximo Manage, adjustments are sometimes required for field lengths. The following table describes the default field lengths that Maximo Manage uses for the location system attributes:
Table 1. Data types and lengths for location systems attributes
Attribute Data type Length
SYSTEMID UPPER 12
SITEID UPPER 8
LOCSYSTEMID BIGINT 19
DESCRIPTION ALN 100

Operating Locations integration

The following artifacts are used to integrate operating locations:
  • Enterprise Service: MASDDOPERLOC
  • Object Structure: MXAPIOPERLOC

You can integrate all operating locations, or you can integrate a subset.

If Maximo Monitor uses a location type that does not exist in the Maximo Manage LOCTYPE domain, the location type is created in Maximo Manage as a synonym of the OPERATING type.

The following table describes how statuses are mapped for the LOCASSETSTATUS domain from Maximo Monitor to Maximo Manage:
Table 2. Status assignments for the integration
Status in Maximo Monitor Status that is assigned in Maximo Manage
ACTIVE The default external value for the OPERATING internal value.
ARCHIVED A synonym of the OPERATING internal value.

If the imported description from Maximo Monitor exceeds the maximum length that is allowed in the Description field in Maximo Manage, the text is truncated. However, the full description is provided in the Long Description field.

Location hierarchies are not integrated using this integration. Hierarchies are integrated using the location hierarchy integration.

Mismatches in field lengths between Maximo Monitor and Maximo Manage can prevent accurate integration for operating locations. Adjustments are sometimes required for field lengths. The following table describes the default field lengths and data types that Maximo Manage uses for the operating location attributes:

Location hierarchies integration

The following artifacts are used to integrate location hierarchies:
  • Enterprise Service: MASDDLOCHIER
  • Object Structure: MXAPIOPERLOC
  • Query template: MASDDLOCHIER

You can integrate all location hierarchies. Location hierarchies are moved after locations are moved to ensure that hierarchies are accurately correlated with the locations.

Mismatches in field lengths between Maximo Monitor and Maximo Manage can prevent accurate integration of location hierarchies. Adjustments are sometimes required for field lengths. The following table describes the default field lengths and data types that Maximo Manage uses for the location hierarchy attributes:
