Creating security groups

You create security groups to manage authorizations to start centers, applications, actions, and data.

About this task

This task describes how to create a security group in the product. If you manage users in an LDAP user registry, you create groups in the user registry and synchronize the data to Maximo® Application Suite so that it can be synchronized to Manage. Map your LDAP groups to Manage security groups before you synchronize them to the suite.

Procedure

  1. In the Security Groups application, create a group, name it, specify a default start center, and set other optional values.
  2. On the Sites tab, authorize group members to have access to all sites or specify individual sites.
  3. On the Applications tab, select the applications that you want to authorize and grant the appropriate types of access to each.
  4. Optional: If you want to enable group members to share data with external applications, on the Object Structures tab, authorize access to object structure APIs.
  5. Authorize the storerooms, labor, general ledger components and limits and tolerances for members of the security group.
  6. On the Data Restrictions tab, you can restrict access to objects, attributes, and collections.
  7. On the Users tab, add users to the group.
