You use the Assets application to replace one asset with
another asset, and to specify a location for the asset you swap out.
You can swap any number of assets at once. You cannot move rotating
assets from inventory locations. Use the Inventory application to
issue rotating assets or to transfer rotating assets.
Before you begin
The ability to swap assets to and from another site or another
organization depends upon your security authorization.
About this task
The following rules apply to swapping assets:
- You can swap rotating assets from one organization to another
only if both organizations use the same item set.
- Every asset within a site must have a unique identifier. If the
replacing asset from another site or organization has the same asset
identifier as an asset in your current site, you are prompted to assign
a new asset identifier for the replacing asset.
Procedure
- From the List tab of the Assets
application, or from the asset record you want to swap, click Swap
Assets.
- In the Swap Assets window for the
asset that you want to swap out, perform either of the following actions:
- In the To Location field, click Detail
Menu to assign the asset to a location within the current
site.
- To assign the asset to another site, click the View
Details icon. In the To Site field,
click Select Value. Optional: Select values
for the To Location field, the To
Parent field, or the Bin field.
- To select a replacement, perform either of the following
actions:
- To choose a replacing asset from within the current
site, in the Replacing Asset field, click Detail
Menu.
- To choose a replacing asset from another site, click View
Details, then in the From Site field,
click Select Value. In the Replacing
Asset field, click Detail Menu.
- If you accessed the Swap Assets window
from an asset record and want to swap additional assets, click Select
More Assets to add assets to the list. Repeat steps 2
and 3 for each asset you added.
- Click OK.
