Register a Slack account

To enable Maximo IT integration with Slack, users have to create a Slack account.

About this task

This section describes the tasks performed by the System Administrator to register an account in Slack for the team.

Procedure

  1. Go to https://slack.com/get-started/ and register a Slack account as per the instructions.
    Note: Below instructions are given just for reference, you must follow updated instructions given in https://slack.com/get-started/.
  2. Click My team isn't using Slack yet to Create a Slack workspace for your team.
  3. Enter your e-mail address and click Confirm.
  4. Check your e-mail inbox for a confirmation email and code from Slack. Enter the code in Slack.
  5. Enter the name of your team (workspace name) and click Next.
  6. Enter the name of project for your team and click Next.
  7. Add users for your team and click Add teammates.
  8. You can look into your channel, click See your channel in Slack.
  9. A dashboard in Slack will open with your team name (workspace name), users of your team and channels. Scroll down and click Finish setup.
  10. In dialog Set your name and password, enter Your full name, Your password and click Next.
  11. In dialog Review your team's details, review Slack workspace name, Slack URL and click Next.
  12. To invite your team members for collaboration, add email addresses in Add people to your Slack workspace dialog, and click Finish.

After registering a Slack account, users must create a Slack application.
