Defining license entitlements
You can define your license entitlements. You can add license records to the Maximo® database for each of your IPLA, ICA, or generic
license types, defining the scope of the licenses, and allocating the licenses to locations,
computer assets, partition assets, or application users, and to general ledger accounts. You can
also add a license key for a new license, associate the license with one or more software products
being licensed, and change the status of a new license from Draft to Active.
Guidance for specifying your license parameters
When creating a license using the Licenses application, see the tables for guidance in providing parameter values that are consistent with the type of license you are creating.
Adding a license
Use the Licenses application to add software license records to the Maximo database. License records specify criteria that define the license entitlement, such as the license type and scope, and associate the license with related assets, persons, locations, or general ledger accounts.
Duplicating a license
Use the Licenses application to create a new license based on an existing one that serves as a template. Because license records can be complex, it can be more efficient to create a new license by copying another one whose attribute values are similar.
Applying a license template
When creating software licenses, you can use the Apply License Template function to apply a template to a license. When you apply the template, the values specified in the template populate fields in the license.
Specifying a license key
Use the Licenses application to add information about the license key to a license record.
Associating a product with a license
Use the Licenses application to add information to the license record about the software product that the license pertains to.
Assigning a customer to a license
Use the Licenses application to add information to the license record about the customer associated with the license.
Activating a license
Use the Licenses application to change the state of one or more license records from Draft to Active. A license must be active to be relevant in any future license audit. At least one product must be associated with a license before you can make it active.
