Creating the API token in JIRA
API taken is created in JIRA and used as a part of basic authentication in Maximo IT (external system).
Procedure to create the API token
Follow the below steps to create the API token in JIRA.
- Click Profile on the right-hand side top corner, select API Token Authentication
from the Profile drop-down options.Note: If API Token Authentication is not visible in the Profile drop-down options then follow the steps given in the below section Installing API Token Authentication for JIRA.
- On the My API tokens tab, click New API Token.
- On the New API Token pop-up, click Create API Token.
- On the API Token Creation Result pop-up, note down the token for future use and click Close. In our example use case, the API token is lXtpBPQvBvSycVYDGo7S8k2N12KE1dMcdyastG.
Installing API Token Authentication for JIRA
Follow the below steps if the API Token Authentication is not visible in the Profile drop-down options as mentioned in the above section.
- On the Manage apps tab, click Find new apps on the left-hand side navigation panel.
- In the search box, search for the API Token Authentication for Jira and install the
app.Note: Once API Token Authentication for Jira is installed, click Manage apps on the left-hand side navigation panel, and find the API Token Authentication for Jira app.
- Once API Token Authentication for Jira is installed, follow the steps explained in this section.
