You use the Failure Codes application to build failure
hierarchies.
About this task
A failure hierarchy is a tree type of structure that shows
relationships between identified problems, causes, and remedies for
asset failures and for operating location failures. Failure hierarchies
are built from the top-level of the hierarchy down to the bottom level
of the hierarchy.
Procedure
- Perform the following steps to create the first level of
the hierarchy:
- Click New Failure Code.
- In the Failure Class field, type
a value.
- In the Failure Class Description field,
type a description.
- Under the Problems table, click New Row.
- In the Problem field, type a
value, and type a description.
- Repeat steps 3 to 5 for each problem in the hierarchy.
- Click Done and click Save
Failure Code.
- Perform the following steps to create the second level
of the hierarchy:
- In the Problem table, select the failure code to which
you want to add a cause or a child.
- Under the Causes table, click New Row.
- In the Cause field, type a value.
- In the Description field, type
a description.
- Repeat steps 2 to 4 for each cause that you want to
add to the selected problem in the hierarchy.
- Click Done and click Save
Failure Code.
- Perform the following steps to create the third level of
the hierarchy:
- In the Causes table, select the failure code to which
you want to add a remedy or a child.
- Under the Remedies table, click New Row.
- In the Remedy field, specify
a value.
- In the Description field, type
a description.
- Repeat steps 2 to 4 for each remedy you want to add
to the selected cause in the hierarchy.
- Click Done and click Save
