Configuring watsonx Assistant on IBM cloud
watsonx assistant must be configured on IBM cloud to be functional in the Self Serve application.
The steps below describe how to configure watsonx assistant in IBM cloud and fetch the
values to be entered in Maximo IT ChatOps application:
- Log in to IBM Cloud (https://cloud.ibm.com/login) using your IBM credentials.
- Go to the Navigation pane and select watsonx and click Overview.
- Click on the watsonx Assistant tile and choose a plan.
- Create the Instance by adding the required values like Instance name, region, etc.
- When the instance is created, a new tab opens from where the Base URL and API Key fields can be fetched.
- Download or copy the credentials and click on Launch watsonx Assistant.
- After launching the watsonx Assistant, a new tab is opened.
- Follow the steps by adding details as required to create, personalize, customize, and preview your first assistant from here.
- Your watsonx Assistant Dashboard is now set to use. Go to Actions tab from the navigation pane to set up actions or create conversations for the assistant.
- After setting up actions and previewing them, deployment of the assistant can be done. Go to the Navigation pane on watsonx Assistant dashboard and click on Publish.
- Publish the first version of your assistant and once it goes Live, copy the date of that version. This date is used as value in the API Version field in the YYYY-MM-DD format.
- Once deployed, go to the Assistant Dashboard Page again and from the navigation pane click on Assistant Settings.
- Scroll down to Assistant IDs and API details section and click on View Details.
- From the Details pop-up, copy the Live Environment ID and close it. This value will
be used in the Assistant ID field.Note: The assistant ID or the environment ID of the environment where the assistant is deployed, depending on the type of request:
- For message, session, and log requests, specify the environment ID of the environment where the assistant is deployed.
- For all other requests, specify the assistant ID of the assistant.
- After gathering all the field values, add them to the ChatOps Configuration Page Watson Dialog in Maximo IT and save them.
- watsonx Assistant will be integrated with Maximo IT.Note: Once a watsonx Assistant Instance has been created, n number of actions and conversations can be set up from that dashboard. Remember to publish every change that is made to the assistant. This will create a new version every time when it needs to be update in the API Version filed as required.
