Overriding the next due date for associated PMs

You can add an extended date to a master preventive maintenance (PM) record. An extended date overrides the next due date on an associated PM record.

About this task

When you update associated PMs, the extended date is copied to all associated PMs, which affects the next time they generate PM work orders. The extended date only applies to the associated PM record; it does not apply to other PMs that are further down in a PM hierarchy. Extended dates override seasonal dates.

Procedure

  1. In the Master PM application, display the record you want to add an extended date to.
  2. Click the Frequency tab.
  3. Check that there is a date in the Next Due Date (Used During PM Create Only) field. If you need a value in the Next Due Date (Used During PM Create Only) field, select a date.
  4. In the Extended Date field, specify a date.
The date must be later than the next due date.
  5. Select the Adjust Next Due Date check box to let the system adjust this date after generating a work order for an associated PM.
You must have an extended date defined to select this check box.

If the Adjust Next Due Date check box is selected, the calculation of the next due date after a work order is generated from the PM is: Extended Date + Frequency.

If the Adjust Next Due Date check box is cleared, the calculation is: Next Due Date + Frequency.

If the extended date is later than the calculation of the Next Due Date + Frequency, you can disrupt the frequency cycle of the associated PM. A warning window advises you that using such an extended date might disrupt the frequency cycle and job plan sequence of the PM. Click OK to continue with the extended date you have entered. Click Cancel to clear the Extended Date field or to enter a different extension date.
