Defining frequency for time-based master PMs

Specify frequency for a time-based master preventive maintenance (PM) record to determine how often its associated PMs generate work orders.

About this task

For time-based PMs, the generation criteria is based on elapsed time since the target start date or completion date of previous work.

Procedure

  1. In the Master PM application, display the master PM record that you want to define frequency for.
  2. Click the Frequency tab.
  3. To specify the type of schedule that you want to use for associated PMs, choose either of the following options:
    • To create a fixed schedule PM, select the Use Last Work Order's Start Date to Calculate Next Due Date check box.
    • To create a floating schedule PM, clear the Use Last Work Order's Start Date to Calculate Next Due Date check box.
  4. On the Time Based Frequency subtab, determine how much time you want to elapse between generating work orders from the associated PMs. Enter or select the appropriate information in the Frequency and Frequency Units fields.
  5. In the Next Due Date (used during PM create only) field, specify a value.
The value in the Next Due Date field is the first date on which the associated PMs generate work orders.
  6. Optional: Update time-based frequency information about the associated PMs by selecting the Update Time Based Information in Existing PMs check box.
When you update associated PMs, the time-based information is copied to the associated PM records.
  7. Save the record.
