Resource Levels Management

In the Resource Levels Management application, you can create threshold levels that are used to calculate resources for dynamic job plans.

The thresholds specify a starting point, end point, and a value to use when resources are calculated for anything within that range. For example, maintenance on a rail track less than 6 miles long requires one flagman. Any work over 6 miles requires two flagmen, and work over 20 miles requires three flagmen. Thus, the number of flagmen that are needed is calculated based on a distance threshold. For a starting point of 1 mile and an end point of 6 miles, specify 1 for the number of flagmen that are required. For a starting point of 6 miles and an end point of 20 miles, specify 2 for the number of flagmen. For anything over 20 miles, specify 3 flagmen.

The following table describes the parameters that you can set for calculating threshold levels.
Table 1. Resource Level Field Parameters
Field Description

Level

User-defined identifier for the resource level.

Description

Description of the resource level.

Type

The type of object that you want to calculate: hours, quantity, or both.

Source

Text field that can be used to identify the regulatory or business source for the resource level.

Quantity Units

Unit of measure for the threshold, such as inches, hours, or miles.

Thresholds

Start - The beginning of the threshold. The start threshold is the lowest number at which the value for this threshold range is selected.

End - The end of the threshold. The end threshold is the number at which the value for this threshold range is no longer selected. If you do not specify an end threshold, resources are calculated for any value that is greater than the start threshold.

Value - Quantity of items or number of hours to use if the number of work units is between the start and end for this threshold range.
