Creating master preventive maintenance
Create a master preventive maintenance (PM) record to create associated PMs and maintain scheduling information for associated PMs.
Procedure
- In the Master PM application, on the toolbar, click New Master PM. If the Master PM field is empty, enter a value.
- Enter a description field. Click Long Description if you need more space.
- If you are creating associated PMs for assets and locations that have rotating items, enter the identifier in the Item field.
- If you want to create associated PMs for the location of
an item, select the Create Associated PMs for Item's Location check
box. If you want to create associated PMs for the asset of an item,
select the Create Associated PMs for Item's Asset check
box. If you do not select the check boxes, you will not see the asset or location associated with that item in the Create Associated PMs window.
- Fill in the remaining required fields, along with other fields as appropriate.
- On the Frequency tab, define the
frequency with which you want the associated PMs to generate work
orders. The master PM frequency can be time-based, meter-based, or
both.
- For time-based master PMs, define the frequency criteria. Select the Update Time Based Information in Existing PMs check box if you want to update the following fields every time you update this master PM's associated PMs: Frequency, Frequency Units, and Alert Lead.
- For meter-based master PMs, define the frequency criteria.
Select the Update Meter Based Information in Existing PMs check
box if you want to update the following fields when you update the
associated PMs: Frequency, Alert
Lead, and Generate WO Ahead By.Attention: If an associated PM has a different frequency than its master PM, updating the associated PM overwrites the frequency data. Any changes made to the associated PM are lost during the update. To keep the frequency data on the associated PM, select the Override Updates from Master PM check box in the associated PM record.
- If the master PM is a seasonal PM, enter the days, dates, or both that you want the associated PMs to be active on the Seasonal Dates tab. Select the Update Existing PMs Seasonal Dates check box if you want to update seasonal information on associated PMs when you select the Update Associated PMs action. Any changes that you made to the seasonal dates of an associated PM are lost during an update.
- On the Job Plan Sequence tab, enter job plan data for the master PM. Select the Update Job Plan Sequence in Existing PMs check box if you want to update job plan data on associated PMs when you select the Update Associated PMs action. Any changes that you made to job plan data on an associated PM are lost during an update.
- Save the record.
