Running the import

You can configure a cron task to import linear asset data from an external system. Before running the import, you can preview some of the data and check that the integration is working.

Procedure

  1. Filter for the JMSQSEQCONSUMER cron task in the Cron Task Setup application.
  2. Select the Active checkbox for the SEQQIN cron task instance, to enable the cron task.
  3. Filter for EXTSYS1 in the External Systems application.
    Substitute another name if you configured a different external system for the import.
  4. Select the Enabled check box to enable communication during the import.
  5. Select the MXASSETInterface record in the Enterprise Services tab and deselect the Continuous Queue checkbox.
  6. To preview the import, click Data Import and specify the following values:
    1. Select the Flat File option.
    2. Select the Import Preview check box to review the process without importing data.
      If errors are encountered, you can review error messages in the Message Reprocessing application and fix the input file before you import any data.
    3. Specify , (comma symbol) in the Delimiter field.
    4. Click Browse to navigate to the CSV file to import.
    5. Click OK.
  7. When the import preview is successful, click Data Import again.
  8. Deselect the Import Preview check box but use the same values for all other fields.
  9. Click OK to enable the import as soon as the cron task runs.
    The default setting is for the cron task to run every 30 minutes but you can change this setting.
  10. Repeat these steps to import flat files of data to other objects in the MXASSET object structure and for the objects in the MXFEATURES and MXRELATIONSHIPS object structures.
