Applying security templates to security groups

As an administrator, you can apply a security template to a security group. A security template assigns predefined permissions to the security group. By using a security template, you can give a security group, access to an application. Therefore, a user belonging to the security group gets access to the application.

Before you begin

Make sure that you have done the following tasks:

  • A security group exists.
  • You added users to the security group.

Procedure

  1. In the Security Groups application, search for the security group that you want to apply a security template to.
  2. Select the security group from the search results.
  3. On the Applications tab, in the Applications section, click the Filter icon to search for the application to which you want to apply a security template.
  4. In the Options for <application name> section, click the Actions menu and select Manage/Apply Template.
  5. In the Add/Modify Authorization Template dialog, click the Actions menu and select Apply Template to apply the default security template from list. Alternatively, click the New Row icon to add a security template.
    1. Specify a name for the new security template in the Security template field.
    2. Set Is Default to on to make it the default security template.
  6. In the System Message dialog, click OK to apply the security template to the security group.
