Use migration collections to simplify the creation of package definitions.

Exporting and importing configuration records to and from external systems
To help plan and manage your migrations, you can export and import migration collections and store them in an external system, such as a version control system.
Creating migration collections
The groups of configuration records that you migrate to another environment are migration collections. A migration collection can contain one or more configuration records of many types.
Capturing events in migration collections
Instead of adding configurations one at a time to a migration collection, you can configure a migration collection to capture events as they occur, similar to a Change package.
Defining the related configuration records in migration collections
You can enable and define the rules that determine the related configuration records that are added to migration collections by the validation process.
Validating migration collections
A validation determines whether a migration collection is complete and whether it contains any orphan records or duplicate records that must be deleted. Validations run as background jobs, similar to cron tasks.
Enabling users to add records to migration collections
You can configure some applications so that users can add records to a migration collection from the application, without using the Migration Collections application. An application that is configured in this way has a migration collections button in the menu bar.
