Duplicating failure codes

You use the Failure Codes application to copy failure codes from an existing failure hierarchy into a new hierarchy or into a hierarchy that you are modifying.

About this task

Duplicating a failure code is useful when you have an asset, such as a motor, that can be expected to have the same failure class as an existing motor. When you duplicate the failure codes for the existing motor, all of the problems, causes, and remedies associated with that motor are copied to the failure hierarchy for the new motor.

1. Display the failure code record that you want to duplicate.
2. Select the Duplicate Failure Code action.
3. In the Failure Class field, specify a value for the new failure class.
4. In the Description field, type a description.
5. Click Save Failure Code.
