R42 Installation Guide: Windows

Before you begin:

Important: Prior to installing IBM Manta Data Lineage, review the prerequisites here: Manta Flow Setup Prerequisites
Important: It is recommended to not modify the default ports provided during the installation, but if required, ensure the Manta administrator notes this change. You can find information regarding the ports needed for installation here: Manta Flow Setup Prerequisites
Important: This guide is for INITIAL installations of Manta Data Lineage. If you are performing an upgrade to an already existing instance of Manta Data Lineage, refer to this guide: Manta Flow Upgrade Guide

  1. Download the most up-to-date version of Manta Data Lineage from IBM Support.

  2. Unzip the installer: mantaflow-windows-42.y.z.zip

  3. Run the installer application file as Administrator: mantaflow-42.y.z-windows-installer

    1. It may take a few minutes for the Setup Installer to launch. Wait up to a few minutes for the application to load successfully.

  4. Setup will begin, choose Next.

  5. Choose the directory to install Manta Data Lineage to, then click Next.

  6. Choose the correct version of Java to use with Manta Data Lineage and then press OK.

    1. There are certain vendors and versions of Java that are unsupported. Review these here: Manta Flow Setup Prerequisites

  7. Choose to override the default machine name and change Machine hostname from localhost to the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN). Also choose to install the system service. Click Next.

  8. Input the path to the license.key file provided by Manta Data Lineage and press Next.

  9. Configure your Keycloak Port, Username, and passwords. Override the Public Keycloak URL by replacing “localhost” with the provided name in step 7. The Publick Keycloak URL should look like this: http://$FULLY_QUALIFIED_DOMAIN_NAME:9090/auth then click Next.

    1. If the machine leverages a load balancer or reverse proxy, it is recommended to review the following article to ensure you are configuring the Public Keycloak URL correctly: Networking Setup Examples

  10. Configure the Artemis port, then click Next.

  11. Configure the Configuration Service port, then click Next.

  12. Configure the Open Manta Designer (OMD) port, then click Next.

  13. Configure the Launcher port, then click Next.

  14. Configure the AdminUI port, then click Next.

  15. Configure the Flow Server and Neo4j ports, then click Next.

  16. Configure the Agent port, then click Next.

  17. If using Caddy HTTPS Proxy, click to enable and configure the two ports. Then click Next.

    1. If using Caddy, all traffic will be rerouted through the defined Caddy HTTPS Proxy port.

  18. If no problems are detected, the installer will let you know. Click Next.

  19. You are now ready to begin the installation. Click Next.

  20. You will notice a progress bar displaying the current step of the installation process. You may notice the application becomes unresponsive - this is correct. Allow adequate time for the installer to complete.

  21. Once complete, click Launch Manta Applications, and then click Finish.

  22. Your default browser should open on the host machine and take you the the Manta Launcher webpage: http://$FULLY_QUALIFIED_DOMAIN_NAME:<LAUNCHER_PORT>/manta-launcher. This will list out all services with their respective URLs for accessing. You are now ready to begin using Manta Data Lineage.

If there are any services returning a status other than “Running” after the installation, report it to Manta Help Desk (Manta direct customers) or IBM Support (IBM direct customers).
