OBIEE Scanner Overview

Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) is a BI tool by Oracle Corporation. OBIEE allows users to collect data from various sources, analyze it, and generate accurate business reports.

The OBIEE scanner extracts XML specifications for reports, data models, analyses, and dashboards from the presentation catalog as well as database connection information. It analyzes reports, analyses, repositories (RPD files), and all the objects they depend on and produces data lineage. If the OBIEE scanner and relevant database scanners are configured properly, Manta Viewer can display lineage starting at the databases and flowing through the data models' data sets right to the report's components. For analyses, the OBIEE scanner can also display lineage starting at the databases, flowing through the physical, logical, and presentation layers of the repository, and ending with analyses.

IBM Automatic Data Lineage connects to OBIEE and automatically extracts all reports, analyses, and dashboards. Automatic Data Lineage creates detailed visualizations of data lineage that can be pushed to IBM IGC, EDC, and Collibra.

Extraction and Analysis Phase Scenarios

Extraction Phase

For the extraction phase OBIEE, there is only one scenario.

1. OBIEE extractor scenario — connects to each configured OBIEE server and extracts the configured projects and their objects

2. OBIEE ingestion scenario - pulls inputs from git Manta Flow Agent Configuration for Extraction:Git Source or a remote agent filesystem location Manta Flow Agent Configuration for Extraction:Agent Source

Analysis Phase

For the analysis phase for OBIEE projects, there is only one scenario.

1. OBIEE dataflow scenario — analyzes metadata from the provided OBIEE projects and and saves it in your IBM Automatic Data Lineage metadata repository.
