Configuring CM items

A default configuration-managed (CM) item is created when you define a model. You create and modify CM items in the CM Item Master application.

Before you begin

Before you can create a CM item, you must first create the related model in the Models (CM) application. Also, you must create master PM's for the CM item in the Master PM (CM) application. You must also create an asset assembly in the New Asset Assemblies (CM) application.

Procedure

  1. In the CM Item Master (CM) application, click the New CM Item icon.
  2. In the Part field, specify a value.
  3. Optional: Specify a revision to the part.
  4. Specify the format of known serial numbers that are associated with the part.
  5. In the Item field, specify the value of the corresponding Maximo® Manage item number.
  6. If the CM item is for software, in the Category field, select Software.
  7. In the Serial Ranges for CM Item table, add a row and specify values in the Serial Range UOC and Serial Range Expression fields.
  8. In the Master PMs for CM Item table, add a row and specify a value for the master PM.
  9. Save the CM item.
