An asset
assembly defines an asset and generates virtual asset records for its components and subassemblies. You can generate virtual asset records for the components and
subassemblies of the new or existing asset.
Procedure

In the New Assets Assembly (CM) application, create a record.
- Optional:
If you want to generate a virtual assembly for an existing asset, specify a value in the Existing Asset field.

Specify the configuration-managed (CM) item and model for the asset.

Specify the status that you want to assign to the asset when it is generated.
- Optional:
Modify the receipt date.

Specify the spare parts,
measurement points, and warranty contracts to generate when the asset is created.

Generate the asset numbers and
serial numbers:
- To generate asset numbers for
the subassembly components, specify values in the Asset
Prefix and Asset Suffix fields.
- To generate serial numbers for the subassembly components, specify values in the
Serial Prefix and Serial Suffix fields.

Save the asset
assembly.
The application saves the new asset assembly with a Draft status.
