Windows DTM to Advanced Windows Agent migration
The MaaS360® communication technology that connects the MaaS360 server and Desktop Management Agent is updated.
The upgrade offers several advantages such as improved performance, security, and enhanced
service quality. To comply with this upgrade, the Desktop Management Agent must be updated to the
new Advanced Windows Agent. The upgrade process uses the current MaaS360 Application Catalog distribution and installation facilities.
Important:
- The upgrade affects WindowsWindows devices that use the MaaS360 Desktop Management (DTM) agent. However, it does not affect Windows devices that are enrolled with MaaS360 as Mobile Device Management (MDM) devices.
- The new Advanced Windows Agent supports Windows devices only. Windows devices with earlier OS version are not supported.
- The Distribute Package action is merged with Distribute app action.
- Patch Settings action is not supported on the Device View page. To apply OS patches, go to (Windows) workflow on the IBM® MaaS360 Portal.
- With the MaaS360 Desktop Management (DTM) agent, apps that are distributed from the IBM MaaS360 Portal get installed by default. With the Advanced Windows Agent to install the apps by default, you can check the option on the Policies and Distribution tab. For more information on the Install Settings, refer Adding an enterprise app for Windows.
- With the new Advanced Windows Agent, the ownership of the device remains the same even though the login user is changed for a device in the IBM MaaS360 Portal.
