Software Update
Use the Software Update settings to configure the software update server and App Store settings.
The following table describes the software update server and App Store settings:
| Policy setting | Description |

| Software Update Server | The Apple software update server URL. Example: http://server.example.com:8088/index.sucatalog |
| Configure App Store Settings | The settings that are required to configure the App Store. |
| Automatically Check for Updates | The notifications that are sent to users when updates are available. Users must download and install updates manually. |
| Download Automatically in Background | The software updates that are automatically downloaded in the background and notify the user that an update is available to install. Users install the updates after the download is complete. |
| Install App Updates | App updates are automatically downloaded and installed on devices. |
| Install OS X Updates | OS X updates are automatically downloaded and installed on macOS devices. |
| Install System Data Files and Security updates | System data files and security updates are automatically installed on devices. |
| Automatic update | The setting checks for software updates. If this setting is disabled, the Check for updates option is deselected and prevents user from changing the setting. |
| Pre-release installation | The setting enables instillation of per-release software on the macOS device. |
| Automatic app update | The setting automatically checks for app updates, download, and install the apps on the devices. If this setting is disabled, the Install app updates option is deselected and prevents the user from changing the option. |
| Automatic macOS updates | This setting restricts the user to install macOS updates and also prevents the user from changing the option. |
| Automatic download | If this setting is disabled, it deselects the Download new updates when available option and prevents the user from changing the option. |
| Configuration data install | If this setting is disabled, it restricts the automatic installation of configuration data. |
| Critical update install | If this setting is disabled, the setting restricts the automatic installation of critical updates and prevents the user from changing the Install system data files and security updates option. |
| Restrict app installations | This setting restricts the app installations for users with administrator role. |
