Migrating to Advanced App Compliance (Windows)

With the Advanced App Compliance setting, administrators can block or allow both universal and traditional native Windows apps.

About this task

With the introduction of the Advanced App Compliance tab, the existing Application Compliance tab is being deprecated. Administrators should move existing desktop and laptop-based blocklist and allowlist entries from the Application Compliance tab to the Advanced App Compliance tab.

You can maintain a list of blocklist and allowlist entries in either the Application Compliance tab or the Advanced App Compliance tab, but not in both tabs at the same time.

For example, if there are some blocklist and allowlist entries for desktops and laptops listed in the Application Compliance tab and the administrator tries to create a new blocklist or allowlist for desktops and laptops in the Advanced App Compliance tab, the MaaS360® Portal displays an error message. If there are apps listed in the Advanced App Compliance tab and the administrator tries to create new entries in the Application Compliance tab, the MaaS360 Portal displays an error message.

Follow these steps to migrate existing blocklist and allowlist entries from the Application Compliance tab to the Advanced App Compliance tab:

Procedure

  1. In the Windows MDM Policy, go to the Application Compliance tab and then click Application Compliance for Universal Apps to view the different blocklist and allowlist entries.
  2. Uncheck the Configure Restricted Universal Applications (App Blocklist) and Configure Allowed Universal Applications (App Allowlist) options.
  3. Click the Advanced App Compliance tab, and then create the same blocklist and allowlist entries for desktops and laptops in this section.
    Note: The Silverlight section is not affected by this migration.
