Account types

IBM® MaaS360® supports multiple account types that define how partners access and use the IBM MaaS360 Portal.

Partners can manage the following account types:
Partner account
A Partner account provides administrative access to organizations to manage multiple customer accounts within a single portal. Partner accounts are designed for centralized management of Customer and Trial accounts.
Partners can create subpartners or child accounts, inheriting apps and settings down the hierarchy for consistent management. The sub partner account can operate independently while maintaining parent partner oversight. For more information, see Creating a Partner account.
Note: To provision a subpartner, partner can contact the IBM MaaS360 support team for assistance. Once the feature is enabled, partner can proceed with creating subpartners in the Accounts page.
Customer account
A Customer account is used to manage devices, users, services, and security policies in active deployments. The Customer account is where an organization purchased license is tracked and assigned to devices or users. The services available within the portal are determined by the specific licenses that are purchased for that account. For more information, see Creating a Customer account.
Trial account
A Trial account is a time-limited subscription that lets users explore and test IBM MaaS360 solution in your own environment. It includes full feature access during the trial periods and expire automatically when the trial period ends. The Trial accounts can be extended by the managing partner or can be converted to Customer accounts. For more information, see Creating a Trial account.
