Android 9.00 Release Notes
The Android app version 9.00 for IBM® MaaS360® is available on the Google Play Store on 30 June 2025.
Enhance Out-of-Compliance (OOC) user experience
The Out-of-Compliance (OOC) user experience of the IBM MaaS360 MDM Android app is enhanced to provide clear and actionable messages to users when their device is OOC for policy violations. This detailed information helps the users to quickly understand and resolve the issues.
Disable Container Pin
IBM
MaaS360 Android app introduces an attribute during
enrollment that is called disablePin
that disables the ability for users to set the
MaaS360 Container Passcode on the device. This option is
only applicable for customers without Workplace Persona Policy
. For customers with
Workplace Persona Policy, the ability to set MaaS360
Container Pin can be controlled through the Persona Policy. For more information, see Additional Android Enterprise enrollment attributes and Configuring policy restrictions on Android devices.
Remote Control support update for Samsung devices
The remote control support through Knox SDK is being restricted to Samsung devices with Android OS version 15 and later that are managed in Android Enterprise enrollment through an EMM solution. This change is implemented to enhance the device security and to make sure that the privacy of the users for Samsung devices is preserved. This change does not affect the IBM MaaS360 Remote Support Users. For more information, see Remote Control Support Update for Samsung devices.
5G Slicing for Android
5G network slicing for Android devices by using IBM MaaS360 is a policy-based configuration that is managed in the MDM platform. IBM MaaS360 acts as the centralized system to define and deliver the slicing policies to managed devices while the network provider runs the underlying network behavior. For more information, see Restrictions.
Allowlist Chrome in Kiosk mode by default in the background during sign-in
In Kiosk mode, the Chrome browser is temporarily enabled during Shared Device sign-in only, enabling it to run in the background without being restricted or ended by the system policies. This behavior is required to support Chrome Custom Tabs (CCT), which are used during the sign-in experience. When the sign-in flow completes or exits, Chrome is subject to the previously applied standard system policies again.
