Android 8.60 Release Notes
MaaS360 makes the Android app version 8.60 available on the Play Store on 14 June 2024.
Introduce a new flavor of the MaaS360 Kiosk Launcher application
Users who use the standard Device Admin Kiosk with the Auto Update setting enabled on the Play Store must upgrade to MaaS360 Android core app version 8.60 and MaaS360 Kiosk Launcher 8.60. This upgrade is necessary to prevent issues with the accessibility service.
For more information, see https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/7156747.
Enhancement to the MaaS360 Kiosk Launcher app
MaaS360 updates the Auto Upgrade Kiosk policy so that the MaaS360 Kiosk Launcher app can now be updated without exiting kiosk mode.
For more information, see Kiosk Experience Designer.
Enhancement to Android device settings in the MaaS360 Kiosk Launcher app
MaaS360 enhances the COSU Kiosk mode policy to introduce device and Android custom intent settings. This capability provides flexibility to control the settings that are displayed to users on the Settings app on an Android device in kiosk mode. Administrators can preconfigure settings and create custom workflows to provide access to only specific parts of the Settings app on a device. For example, administrators can provide access to open the Biometric enrollment screen from the device without adding the Settings app to an allow list in the Kiosk policy. For more information about Android custom intent, see Android custom intent.
For more information about the Kiosk Device settings and additional settings, see Kiosk Experience Designer and Configuring Additional settings in Android Kiosk mode.
For information about the UI changes in the Android agent behavior, see https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/7156691.
Support exemption of Apps from Always-on VPN Lockdown
Administrators can configure a policy to exempt certain apps from Always-on VPN Lockdown. When set, this policy allows specified apps to access the network directly when the always-on VPN is in lockdown mode but not connected.
For more information, see VPN.
Enhancement to Android MDM Policy
The Android MDM Policy is enhanced to include new policies that provide restrictions like DISALLOW_CAMERA_TOGGLE, DISALLOW_MICROPHONE_TOGGLE, DISALLOW_CONTENT_CAPTURE, DISALLOW_CONTENT_SUGGESTIONS, and Common Criteria Mode.
For more information, see Configuring policy restrictions on Android devices.
For more information about the key values of the policies, who can set them, enrollment types, and which versions of Android they are applicable to. See User Manager.
Added a notification sound for the MaaS360 message
MaaS360 introduced a new notification sound that accompanies message notifications that are sent from the MaaS360 portal using the Message device action. This enhancement promptly alerts the users to new messages on their devices.
For more information about device actions, see Android device actions.
