Use the new version of the Cloud Extender®
Configuration Tool to configure the
Zebra Printer
Management service for the Cloud
Extender.
Before you begin
- Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.1: The Zebra Link-OS API
requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.1 and later. You
cannot use the new Cloud Extender
Configuration Tool to configure the
Zebra Printer
Management module if you have not installed .NET Framework 4.7.1 on your system.
- Zebra
Printer Management service: The MaaS360® Administrator
must enable the Zebra Printer Management service in the IBM Admin Portal.
Procedure
- Download ZebraManager.exe and install the module on the local server
where the Cloud
Extender
is installed.
- Open the new Cloud Extender
Configuration Tool.
- Select the Zebra Printer Management module.
The Printer Discovery Settings window is
displayed.
- From the Discovery Method list, select
SubnetSearch to search on Zebra printers by subnet
range (you can include multiple subnets), and then enter the range of IP addresses that you want to
search and the port that you want to use.
The
Zebra
printers that are discovered are displayed.
Note: If a new Zebra printer is added
to the subnet or an existing Zebra printer is
replaced on a subnet, the administrator does not need to run the new Cloud Extender
Configuration Tool again. The
Cloud Extender
Configuration Tool acts a
test to verify that the subnet range you entered contains Zebra printers. You are
configuring Cloud
Extender to manage subnets or a group of subnets, and then running a test to verify that there are
Zebra printers
on those subnets. The Cloud
Extender runs a script every
15 minutes to discover Zebra printers and to
enforce printer configuration policies.
Note: For the IBM MaaS360 platform 10.70 release, the
preferred discovery method is to use subnet search for scalability. This discovery method allows
administrators to use multiple Cloud Extenders to manage multiple subnets over large enterprise
networks.
- From the list of discovered Zebra printers, select a
printer to test the status of the printer on the network.
The printer status test results are displayed. Some status settings are managed from the
Zebra policy in
the IBM
MaaS360 Portal and
other settings are
read-only.
- Click Close, and click Save to save the
results.
The Cloud
Extender
sends the details about the Zebra printers that are
discovered on the subnet or subnet ranges to the IBM
MaaS360 Portal. The results are
displayed on the Device Inventory page
().
