Enrolling your iOS device (DEP by using Passcode)
Follow these steps to enroll your iOS device in the Apple Device Enrollment Program (DEP) by using passcode.
Before you begin
- The iOS DEP token must be active in the IBM® MaaS360® Portal.
- DEP profiles that are enabled with the Authenticate option must be assigned to the iOS devices that you want to enroll in the Apple Device Enrollment Program (DEP).
Procedure
- Turn on the iOS device and go through the initial activation screens to the Choose a Wi-Fi Network screen and select the network.
- On the Remote Management screen, tap Next.
- At the authentication prompt, enter the username, domain, and passcode from the enrollment request that you received in your email to complete the iOS device enrollment.
- Accept the terms of the license agreement and tap
Continue. The Configuring device screen is displayed.
What to do next
- Follow these steps to verify that iOS device enrollment is successfully completed:
- From the IBM
MaaS360 Portal home page, select .
The Enrollments (Add Device Requests) window is displayed.
- On the Enrollments (Add Device Requests) window, review the following
information.
Column Description Status The status of the enrollment request for the device - New
- The enrollment request was sent to the device.
- Failed
- An error prevented the request from successfully completing.
- Completed
- The device is enrolled successfully.
- Pending
- The request was sent successfully, but the owner of the device needs to enroll the device.
- From the IBM
MaaS360 Portal home page, select .
- Configure the following settings.
- From IBM MaaS360 Portal home page, go to .
- Select the Override authentication mode for enrollment checkbox in the
Authentication Mode for Enrollment section, and then select the
Passcode option from the Authentication Mode for
Enrollment drop-down list.
The Override authentication mode for DEP enrollment checkbox is displayed.
Note: Make sure that you manually disable this option before the end of 2022. This option is provided temporarily to customers that use MaaS360 credentials as the authentication type to enroll DEP devices and a passcode as the authentication type to enroll managed devices.
