Managing device exceptions

MaaS360 uses a background process to compare device information to match two records of a device.

In most cases, MaaS360 has enough information to match records. If Maas360 cannot make an informed decision about which devices match, the unmatched records are displayed in the Exceptions report. An administrator can merge the records manually.

Viewing the Exceptions report for devices

To view the Exceptions report for devices, follow this step:

  • From the IBM® MaaS360® Portal Home page, select Devices > Exceptions. The Compliance Rules window is displayed with the existing rules:
    Option Description
Username The user name for the device user.
Sort (Action) The device list is sorted by the selected action.
Bulk Device Count The number of non-MDM devices that belong to the user.
MDM Device Count The number of MDM devices that belong to the user.
Email Address The email address of the owner of the device.

View Merged Devices option

Click View Merged Devices to view a list of devices that MaaS360 has merged automatically. The matching process runs approximately every two minutes, with the most recent process shown on the report. Click the Refresh icon to refresh data.

Click the Separate link to undo the merge process.

Note: If you separate a record, you cannot merge that record again.

Show Exclusions option

Click Show Exclusions to view a list of devices that MaaS360 cannot merge.

  • To manually merge records, click Device Pending Merge > Merge.

Hide Exclusions option

Click Hide Exclusions to filter out a list of devices that MaaS360 has not merged automatically.

Note: If you do not use ActiveSync, HCL Traveler, or G Suite services, this report will contain no data.
