Repushing the policy distribution status for devices

You can repush a failed policy to apply to the devices or if the policy is partially delivered to the devices. Policy delivery fails when the installation of a scheduled policy payload fails, when the IBM® MaaS360® Cloud Extender is down, when the requested certificates are unavailable, or when the device is unavailable. When you repush a policy, the entire policy configuration is applied to the device again.

About this task

This action is not available for administrators with read-only permissions.

Use the Repush policy action with caution because the entire policy (including all policy-related configurations) is applied to the device again. This action might cause payloads to reload on the device and devices might request certificates that were already configured for the device.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Devices in scope page.
  2. Select the devices that you want to repush.
  3. To repush the policy in bulk, perform the following steps.
    1. Click Failed status.
    2. Select the checkbox next to the Device IDs or click Select all checkbox to select all the devices in the grid.
    3. Click Repush policy to push the entire policy configuration to all the selected devices again. A confirmation message is displayed indicating that the Repush policy action pushes all the policy-related configurations to the device again, where some configurations are reloaded.
  4. To repush the policy to individual devices, perform the following step.
    1. In the Actions column, click the Repush policy icon for the device that is in failed status. A confirmation message is displayed that indicates that the Repush policy action pushes all the policy-related configurations to the device again, where some configurations are reloaded.
  5. Click Confirm.

Results

The policy distribution is triggered and all policy-related configurations are applied to the selected devices again.
