Speech, text, and inking

The Speech, text, and inking settings configure privacy settings for speech recognition, inking, and personalization features on a Windows device.

The following table describes the speech and text input, Windows Ink, user experience, and preferences settings that you can configure on a Windows device:

Allow input panel Choose whether to allow a touch-based or handwriting keyboard on Windows.

Allow language features to uninstall Choose whether to allow or disallow the user to uninstall language features such as spell checkers on a device. Windows 10+ Professional, Education, Enterprise
Allow linguistic data collection from input fields Allows a user to turn off the sending of language-specific inputs from input scope fields to Microsoft for language improvements.

Windows Ink
Allow Windows Ink workspace Choose whether to enable or disable user access to the workspace. You can also choose to enable user access to the workspace except the lock screen. Windows 10+ Education, Enterprise
Allow suggested apps in Windows Ink workspace Choose whether to show suggested apps in the Windows Ink workspace. Windows 10+ Education, Enterprise

Allow Windows consumer features Choose to allow or disallow consumer features such as start suggestions, membership notifications, post-OOBE app installation, and redirect tiles. Windows 10+ Professional, Education, Enterprise
Allow Windows spotlight Choose whether to allow or disallow Windows spotlight features on the device. Windows 10+ Professional, Education, Enterprise
Allow Windows tips Choose whether to allow or disallow Windows tips or a soft landing on the device. Windows 10+ Professional, Education, Enterprise
Allow Windows spotlight on lock screen Choose whether to enable, enable with enterprise spotlight, or disable the spotlight on the user's lock screen. Windows 10+ Professional, Education, Enterprise
Restrict feedback notification If this setting is enabled, feedback questions from Microsoft are not displayed on the device.
