The Email settings configure email account settings on an iOS device.

Email settings

The following table describes the email settings that you can configure on an iOS device:
Policy setting Description Supported devices
Configure for type The protocol (IMAP or POP) that is used to retrieve email messages from the mail server.  
Account description The name of the email account.  
Path prefix for IMAP protocol The prefix for the IMAP path.  
User display name The name of the user of the device.  
Email address The email account that is configured for the device.  
Mail server host name (for incoming mail) The host name of the mail server that is used for incoming email messages.  
Mail server port number (for incoming mail) The port number of the mail server that is used for incoming email messages.  
Username (for incoming mail) The user name for the email account that is receiving email messages (usually the name that is used in the first part of an email address before the @ character.

If the user name is not present in the payload, and the account is set up to require authentication for incoming email messages, the device prompts for this string during the profile installation.

 
Authentication type (for incoming mail) The type of authentication a device uses for incoming email messages.  
Use SSL (for incoming mail) Incoming email messages can use SSL encryption.  
Mail server hostname (for outgoing mail) The host name of the mail server that is used for outgoing email messages.  
Mail server port number (for outgoing mail) The server port number for outgoing email messages. If you do not provide a port number, the mail server uses the following ports in the following order:
  1. 25
  2. 587
  3. 465
 
Username (for outgoing mail) The user name for the email account that is sending email messages (usually the name that is used in the first part of an email address before the @ character.

Same password for outgoing and incoming mail The user of the device uses the same password for sending and receiving email messages.  
Use SSL (for outgoing mail) Outgoing email messages can use SSL encryption.  
Prevent moving mail to other accounts Emails messages cannot be moved from email accounts on the device to another configured email account. iOS 5.0+
Prevent third party apps from sending mail The device cannot send email messages from third-party apps. iOS 5.0+
Disable synchronization of recent addresses list The account is excluded from synchronizing with a list of recent email addresses. iOS 6.0+
Allow Mail Drop The user of the device can use Mail Drop to provide a disposable email address to a site or app. iOS 9.0+
