Android user actions (Sign in and Sign out) in MaaS360
MaaS360 provides an advanced feature where an administrator can now sign in and sign out users from the portal. The Shared Device feature provides the administrator more authority to enhance security and manage the shared devices more effectively.
In the ever-evolving landscape of enterprise mobility management, seamless access control and security is paramount. One key feature that contributes significantly is the ability to sign in and sign out of the shared devices.
User can sign in and sign out by using the Shared Device feature, which helps to protect their session data and prevent it from being accessed by other users. Administrators often need to manage shared devices, performing tasks that require signing in and signing out of different accounts. Now, Remote Sign-In and Sign-Out actions are implemented by admins to perform the functions on the shared device. This capability enhances the security and provides better management of shared resources.
- Security Management:
- Ensures that the admin sessions do not remain active, reducing the risk of unauthorized access.
- Resource Allocation:
- Facilitates the switching between different admin roles or accounts on the same device.
- Compliance:
- Adheres to the organizational policies that require distinct session management for different admin tasks.
- The Shared Device feature is supported only for Non G Suite customers that use Android Enterprise (AE).
- Administrators for G Suite-enabled environments cannot sign in and sign out users from the portal.
Configuring user actions (Sign in and Sign out)
- Go to . The device inventory page is displayed where all managed devices are listed.
- Select the specific shared device that is enrolled in the MaaS360 Portal and requires an admin
intervention.Note: The device ownership must be Corporate Shared to perform this action.
- Click Remote Sign-in pop up window is displayed. option. A
- Enter the Corporate Username, Domain, and Email Address to authenticate the user. Click Continue.
- A notification message about an administrator's request for a remote sign-in appears.
The admin can check the status of the request under Summary > History.
- After the sign in action is completed, the admin can see the Remote Sign-out option under the More tab.
- Click the Remote Sign-out option to sign out the user from the device. After signing out, the device returns to a state where it is ready for a new user to sign in. The residual data from the previous sessions is not accessible.
