Expiring an account

Use the Expire option to disable Trial or Customer accounts. Expiring accounts helps you manage resources efficiently and reduce security risks.

About this task

Note: The expire option is available for Customer and Trial accounts.
Partners can expire Trial and Customer accounts to manage account lifecycle, reclaim resources, and reduce security risk.
Trial account
You can expire the trial accounts enabling partners to manage their trial periods efficiently. By expiring Trial accounts promptly, organizations can mitigate security risks that are associated with prolonged access to trial resources, safeguarding sensitive data and information.
Note: The Trial account automatically expires when the trial period ends.
Customer account
You can also expire the Customer accounts to manage the resources more effectively by freeing up licenses and resources for other purposes. For example, if the customer takes the IBM® MaaS360® and uses it for a certain time period and decides to discontinue the service but the customer data is not deleted. Expiring the account helps partners to remove the customer data from IBM MaaS360.
Note: After a Customer account is expired, the administrator can only delete the account.

Procedure

  1. On the Accounts page, click Options icon on the right side of the account name.
  2. Click Expire.
  3. On the Expire window, review the details.
  4. Click Submit.

Results

The Trial and Customer account status is updated to Expired. After the account expires, users cannot login to IBM MaaS360 Portal. To continue using the account, the partner can extend the trail period for the account.
