Creating a Partner account

You can create a Partner (subpartner) account within an existing partner hierarchy so that the partner can manage Customer and Trial accounts based on assigned permissions.

Before you begin

To enable subpartner functions, contact the IBM support team for assistance. Once the function is enabled, you can create subpartner accounts from the Accounts page.

About this task

A Partner account provides administrative access to organizations to manage multiple customer accounts within a single portal. Partner accounts are designed for centralized management of Customer and Trial accounts.

A subpartner account is created under an existing partner hierarchy and inherits selected configuration settings from the parent partner account. Subpartner accounts enable delegated administration while maintaining centralized control within the partner hierarchy.

Procedure

  1. From the IBM® MaaS360® Portal home page, go to Accounts.
  2. On the Accounts page, click Add account on the upper right of the page.
  3. On the Account details page, select the Account type as Customer.
  4. Complete all mandatory fields by following the on-screen instructions..
    Unique user name
    Specify a unique username for the partner account.
    Display user name
    Specify the name that is displayed for the partner account.
    Default country
    Select a country where the account is being created.
    Email address
    Enter the primary email address for the partner account.
    Unique code
    Specify a unique code to identify the partner account. Use unique eight character alphanumeric code to identify the partner.
    Copy account setup from
    Select the parent partner account from which configuration settings are inherited.
    Default language
    Select the default language for the account. You get the email notifications in the same language.
    Default trial period for accounts
    Select the trial period.
    Note: The trial period is defined by the partner administrator and cannot exceed the default value that is configured for the partner account.
    Email address for notification
    Enter the email address to which account creation notifications and login credentials are sent.
    Email Domain List for creating multiple accounts
    Specify the list of email domains if the same email address is used to register multiple trial accounts. Based on your email address, a username to log into the portal is auto generated and sent to you in an email.
  5. Click Create. The subpartner account is created under the current partner hierarchy.
    A welcome email notification for MaaS360 Partner Program is sent to the associated email id of the partner. The email notifies the partner on the account setup and the details on the account user name and ID.
    Another email notification with the Administrator Account details is also sent that contains the following details:
    • Login URL
    • Username
    • Temporary Password
    • Roles assigned
  6. From the Administrator Account details email, click URL link, and login with username.

Results

The subpartner account is created under the current partner hierarchy and can be used to manage Customer and Trial accounts based on assigned permissions.
