Setting up HyperPAV
The I/O throughput for ECKD™ DASD can be improved by using Parallel Access Volumes (PAV) or HyperPAV.
HyperPAV can be helpful when using DASDs as data disks. For example, database servers are candidates that typically do a lot of disk I/O. For this case study, the z/VM® hypervisor was set up to assign HyperPAV aliases directly to the virtual machines.
