Environment

The test environment for the JSSE study was a Java-based, client-server workload that processes SSL handshakes, data encryption and decryption, and data transfers.

These components are used:
  • A JSSE client program that runs on the IBM® System z® client LPAR
  • A JSSE server program that runs on the IBM System z server LPAR
Figure 1 shows the configuration used for the testing.
Figure 1. JSSE study: System configuration for the JSSE workload
For the JSSE study, there is an IBM System z10 with two LPARs, connected by a HiperSockets connection. Both LPARs have four CPUs and 4 GB memory. Both LPARs run Java 64-bit and Linux on IBM System z. LPAR 1 runs the JSSE Client. LPAR 2 runs the JSSE Server. Each LPAR is connected to a CEX2A card having two processors.
