WebSphere Application Server version 6.0.2 versus version 6.1
The purpose of these test runs was to study the effect of switching the WebSphere® Application Server release from 6.0.2 to 6.1. The version of Trade was kept the same.

Observations
WebSphere Application Server version 6.1 has a 20% higher transaction throughput compared to version 6.0.2. The decreasing CPU utilization could be explained by a significantly shorter path length of the WebSphere Application Server 6.1 and the related Java™.
Conclusion
WebSphere Application Server version 6.1 (31-bit) has a significant advantage compared to version 6.0.2. It seems to be a result of successful optimization leading to higher throughputs at lower cost. The change from 6.0.2 to 6.1 (31-bit) can be highly recommended.
