Oracle Database on Linux on System z – Disk I/O Connectivity Study

This study aims to produce guidelines for disk configuration and tuning hints with regard to ECKD and FCP disk devices, and specifically for the Oracle Database using a transactional workload (OLTP) in a LPAR from System z® 196 EC.

It also compares the behavior of Oracle Database 11g Release 2 with Oracle Database 10g Release 2. This paper helps you to decide which disk type is appropriate and to describe how to optimize disk throughput rates.
