The Network Express can surface PCI accessed or channel device accessed logical network interface controllers.

You can configure the Network Express adapter in the IOCDS or DPM in either of two modes:
Hybrid mode (function type NETH)
Hybrid mode enables Network Express Hybrid (NETH) logical network interface controllers to use the same physical port as OSH logical network interface controllers. You can define PCI functions of type NETH on the Network Express adapter's PCHIDs using either IOCP or DPM.

Direct mode (function type NETD)
You can configure the entire Network Express adapter in the IOCDS or DPM in direct mode (NETD). With NETD, one LPAR can access a physical function and possibly multiple LPARs can access virtual functions, where NETH can only access virtual functions.
