Coexistence of CEX8C and previous CEX*C features

While CEX8C is only supported on processors starting with IBM® z16™, and CEX7S coprocessors are supported on processors starting with IBM IBM z15®, the CCA 8.0 RPM is also useful on IBM z14® and other legacy systems. This information unit discusses co-existence considerations for the CCA 8.0 RPM.

Use CCA 8.0 to update existing 7.* installations or to install it to a fresh client. Running CCA 8.0 in parallel with a prior 7.* RPM is not supported.
The latest CCA RPM supersedes and replaces earlier RPMs if installed in the default manner. It is not recommended to manually alter the installation in order to run newer versions of CCA RPMs in parallel with older versions. This configuration is not supported.
