CCA installation instructions

Use these instructions when you install or configure CCA release 8.4.

You can install the new release either on a new system or over an earlier release.

Before you begin
Review the prerequisites mentioned in this section before you begin the CCA installation.
Compatibility considerations
Starting with version 8.4, the CCA host library is shared across IBM Z® and non-Z environments.
Default installation directory
The CCA RPM or DEB by default choose overall installation directories for their contents.
Download and install the RPM or DEB file
RPM is the installation package format for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) distributions. DEB is the package format for the Ubuntu distribution. The CCA RPM or DEB packages contain files, samples, and groups.
Verify the RPM or DEB package signature
Validating the signed CCA Linux® on IBM® Z RPM or DEB files is a recommended action and can be done any time even after the certificate expires.
Uninstall the RPM or DEB
Use the following steps to uninstall the CCA RPM or DEB.
TKE catcher configuration for a TLS connection
Communication between the TKE workstation and the catcher.exe daemon (controlled by the CSUTKEcat script) can be sent through a plain TCP connection (TCP mode) or, starting with CCA 8.0, a TLS connection (TLS mode). In both modes, the TKE catcher.exe daemon listens on port 50003.
