Collecting data for performance and resource utilization problems

If performance or resource utilization is a problem, collect diagnostic data that you can use to diagnose and resolve the problem. Sadc should, per default, always run an collect data every ten minutes. Start sadc (System Activity Data Collection) and provide sar files.

Procedure

To collect diagnostic data for performance diagnostics:

  1. If running as guest under z/VM®, collect z/VM MONWRITE data.
  2. Open a case with IBM and upload the collected data to this case. Follow the advice of the Linux distributor if you have a support contract.
